The NFL needs circuit protection?

The NFL Super Bowl was feeling the pain of a power surge and many around the world found out the RAMIFICATIONS of not properly protecting your circuits or network.

A device called a transient voltage suppressor (TVS) array is designed to protect computing application interfaces as well as telecommunications equipment and systems. Outside sources often attack valuable electronics and protection is part of what Electronic Supply Chain Solutions provides.
ESCS are "The Protection People" What they know about protection is shocking!
Whether you are you are trying to protect a large network of equipment or just your favorite big screen tv, ESCS distributes ProTek Devices products that protect your board level circuits, NexTek Lightning feed through filters and SurgeGuard lightning suppressor all are designed to keep your electrical products safe.
During this Super Bowl power outage the bars may have sold more beer but not being protected can produce catastrophic results and your brand could be ruined.

The WHY is counterfeit products.

·       Recently on Linkedin Michael G Beason chairman of the Aerospace & Defense Supply Chain Group wrote "Our supply chain is changing rapidly and sometimes we can't understand that the time to prepare for the changes was years ago. We're caught flat-footed and unprepared. We surprised and not in a good way. Nobody owns the problem. We can only ask "Why?"

ESCS President Matthew Heaphy III  replied .................      The WHY is counterfeit products. In 2008 Electronic Supply Chain Solutions sponsored www.CombatCounterfeits.com which offered the 123's ABC's and tricks they play to help educate the electronics industry that was clearly ill prepared for what was to come. Our industry assessment identified how 85 companies thought about the problem and the steps they might take.
We also sponsored www.QualityLessonsLearned.com which                                                              showcases actions taken and the results achieved.

Electronic Supply Chain Solutions choose to abandon the broker business and embrace the franchised model which has seen a tremendous uptick as companies are mandated not to buy from brokers any more.

This has resulted in many independent asking "Who move my industry?" Some have invested in inspection technology to add a layer of security while others have hung up their sneakers. Unfortunately I believe inspection and testing is just a new form of revenue and not the answer to the counterfeit epidemic. As a voting member of the SAE G-19 Counterfeit Committee I can share with you after over 150 weeks of 2 hour meetings we are still struggling with a solution to the problem.
Watch for our AS6081 distributor standard soon to be published and grab you track shoes ! ! !

When are they going to learn?

There is only one place for ULTRA Satisfaction Guaranteed!
Once again quality professionals from aerospace certified companies such as Electronic Supply Chain Solutions will flock to Cape Canaveral Florida to attend the NASA sponsored "Quality Leadership Forum" March 21 & 22 2012. Many will look to personally discover from the mouths of those on the SAE G-19 Committee and others, just what is being done to CombatCounterfeits in the electronics community. During the many scheduled panel discussions and presentations attendees will discover the "Quality LessonsLearned" and the way forward.  Some will have their first chance to attend a special one day workshop presented by the JPL. ESCS has contributed to the information be presented and urges anyone associated with the mitigation of risk of counterfeits to attend. Last year Electronic Supply Chain Solutions offered a FREE copy of the "ESCS A2Z Inspection & Test Protocol" to those in attendance. Those who missed the opportunity may contact ESCS directly. ESCS President Matthew Heaphy is a voting member of the SAE G-19 Counterfeit Committee which has published the aerospace AS5553 Standard, and continues to refine a standard for distribution started in 2009 which will be known as AS6081 upon its release this year. Those who assume that vendor reduction is the answer should attend. Sorry but it's just not that simple! Discover ESCS ULTRA  by clicking this link!

Tin Whiskers ? What are tin whiskers?

Electronic Supply Chain Solutions thinks you should know
so.... REGISTER TODAY for 5th INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON TIN WHISKERS

WHEN: Sept. 14-15, 2011  WHERE: Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center,

University of Maryland, College Park, MD

Contact: Dr. Michael Osterman (osterman@calce.umd.edu)

Tin whiskers present a unique challenge to the electronics industry. There have been numbers of electronics failures in the market caused by tin whiskers since the 1940s. Since 2000, the majority of electronic component manufacturers are now using pure tin or tin-rich alloys for terminal and lead finishes as a result of the global transition to lead-free electronics. The increased use of tin-based lead-free finishes and materials has focused concern and research on tin whiskers, particularly for long-life and mission-critical applications, such as space, aviation, and implantable medical devices.

A tin whisker is a conductive tin crystal that can spontaneously grow from tin-based lead-free finished surfaces, even at room temperature, often in a needle-like form. Oxidation in a humid atmosphere, corrosion, intermetallic formation, stress under thermal cycling, external pressure in fine-pitch connectors, and electromigration have been shown to promote whisker formation. However, acceleration models for whisker growth are very limited or nonexistent.

Symposium presentations will cover case histories, theories of tin whisker growth, experiments and results, risk evaluation methods, and risk mitigation strategies.

Proceedings from prior International Symposia on Tin Whiskers can be found at:

Are you ready for some FIRST Robotics?

As many are aware Electronic Supply Chain Solutions has been a supporter of FIRST Robotics Team 79 KRUNCH Eastlake High School along with Honeywell Clearwater in Florida starting back in 2006. This years 2011 marks the 20th season of the FIRST Robotics Competition. They have a lot to celebrate this year as FIRST has gone from 1 event to nearly 60 and from 28 teams to over 2000. Much has changed over the past twenty seasons, the games and kit of parts have become more complex, they have many more volunteers and staff working behind the scenes to make everything work, and they have several new countries as a part of FRC. But the key goals remain the same; commitment to Gracious Professionalism®, emphasis on learning, helping one another and inspiring careers in math, science, engineering and technology. ESCS urges you to visit http://www.usfirst.org/ and see if there is a program in your town and then..... get involved! Your children will benefit and thank you when they are old enough to realized the great opportunity you gave them by exposing them to FIRST Robotics. This year's game shall be announced in January 8, 2011 and all robots must be completed by ship deadline of 2/22/11 How do they do it???? Get involved and "prepare to be amazed" Visit http://www.electronicsupplychainsolutions.com/roboticsframe.htm to get peek of what is in store when your child takes an interest in science! Start them young with FIRST Lego League!
If you need help getting started call Electronic Supply Chain Solutions at 727-723-8255 and ask for ESCS President Mattthew Heaphy to learn more.
